Monday, July 10
9-12 noon Spanish
12-1:30 Lunch
1:30 Historical and political walking tour through Buenos Aires’ downtown. The tour will start from Plaza de Mayo, where the town was born more than four centuries ago. We walk through the oldest and narrow streets of the protected district of Monserrat and the financial city, showing the landmarks, major churches and astonishing buildings. We recall the fascinating transformation of some southern village called to being the Paris of South America.
Tuesday, July 11
9-12 noon Spanish
12-1:30 Lunch
1:30 Tour “The hidden south”, a tour around forgotten districts of Buenos Aires, far away from the main tourist routes. Barracas, Nueva Pompeya, Parque Patricios and Boedo, popular neighborhoods, in which immigration, labor movement –socialist & anarchist-, tango and popular literature play the main roles. During the tour we’ll also visit recovered factories/coops that are involved in the program and are located in that part of the city: El Sol (press), Cefomar (editorial house) and Cooperpel (industrial packages).
Wednesday, July 12
9-12 noon Spanish
12-1:30 Lunch
1:30 Visit to the unemployed worker’s organization MTD La Matanza. We’ll talk with Toti and Soledad, members of this goup that has created in the past three years an amazing array of self-managed micro-enterprises such as kindergarten, bakery, silk-screening and sewing workshops.
9:00 pm “Fernández Fierro Tango Orquestra” performance: a group of self-managed young tango musicians.
Thursday, July 13
9-12 noon Spanish
12-1:30 Lunch
3:30 Madres de Plaza de Mayo’s Thurday afternoons rounds and later meeting with some of them.

1:30 Visit to recovered cooperatives involved in the program
