MNER
(Movimiento Nacional de Empresas Recuperadas)

We are currently offering internships in the Buenos Aires area with recovered enterprises and cooperatives with MNER (Movimiento Nacional de Empresas Recuperadas).

The Argentinean economy collapsed in 2001 at the hands of the IMF, multinational corporations and the local governments. In the face of this disaster, Argentineans are responding pro-actively by taking over abandoned factories (currently numbering approximately 200) and by developing over 300 micro-enterprise cooperatives.

Self-managed enterprises are a response of certain sectors of the working class to the neoliberal catastrophe induced by the IMF during the 90s in Argentina . You will have the unique opportunity to work alongside those who have collectively taken over the means of production and have been running them in a capitalist system for the past 2 years.

Recovered enterprises are hotels, presses, aluminum producers, wood works and others. There you will have the opportunity to perform general tasks, avoiding areas of production, high risk and or toxic activities.

Internships in recovered enterprises/coops can be set up all year round.

Our fees are based on the length of your desired/needed internship, however there is a minimum fee of USD 650 for 4 weeks. This fee includes a donation for the movement you will be working with, an administrative fee for the AAP, as well as insurance that covers accidents that could occur inside the factory. (see our FAQ´s for more details) The fee does not include airfare, transportation in Argentina , nor any meals or lodging. (for lodging options see our FAQ´s)

Your fee will be divided in this way: USD 200 go as a contribution to the cooperative you will assist, USD 120 to MNER (Movimiento Nacional de Empresas Recuperadas), USD 300 to the AAP plus 30 USD for insurance.
